Hi @Dani8401, I don't think this will help as you don't even reach the maximum transmission rate of the 500.
Powerline is always a thing, it always depends on the lines in the house, I recommend the "Airties" or Mesh capable Wifi systems.
I have the same situation, router in the office downstairs, family with laptops in the living room and upstairs away. Since the installation of Devolo, WLan coverage upstairs has become much better. However, it partly depends on which other electrical devices are installed in the house, and depending on that, there can be interference and failures. It has been working perfectly for a few months now.
Yes, you can combine different adapters with different speeds. However, the fast adapters can logically only communicate with the slower adapter at the slower speed.
As far as I know, it depends somewhat on the house installation. Personally, I have no restrictions. The performance is about the same as directly via a LAN cable. However, my sockets are not far away from each other, approx. 6-7 m cable length.
So the MyStrom devices from Swisscom can only be connected with 2.4GHz WLAN... It also works for me with a cheap repeater... I think it should also work with Devolo, since it is a Devolo WiFi ac.
Yes, it also works with Windows 10. You need the devolo Cockpit 4.3.3 software to set it up.
devolo Cockpit 4.3.3 - Windows
7(32/64), 8(32/64), 10(32/64) - 22 MB - 29.05.2017

This actually works for me (used during holiday absences), but may depend on the power grid connection (fuse circuits).
I have also noticed that the devices automatically switch to standby mode if they are not being used (WLAN switched off on a terminal, not visible via the control tool unless LAN use has taken place shortly beforehand).
In addition, a time control for the WLAN is available, individually for each end device.
Yes, this is possible. See instructions (page 36 - chapter 5.3.1): http://www.devolo.ch/fileadmin/user_upload/Products/dLAN-1200plus-WiFi-ac/Documents/Handbuch-dLAN-1200-plus-WiFi-ac-de.pdf

Be sure to buy the 1200+. Depending on the line, there is not much more than 100 Mbit/s left. The transmission in one direction theoretically brings 600 Mbit/s. With a few disturbances in the power line and the corresponding line length, the throughput is then reduced quite quickly.
I have combined the 1200+ starter kit with a 500AV starter kit. It works fine, but I only have one WiFi adapter in the network. Instead, I have a Netgear wireless router. And everything behind a Swisscom Centro Grande Wifi router/modem. Works well (the Devolo Funki better than the Netgear one).
it is about the total network capacity with DLAN, you can operate more than 2 of them in the mains, let's say there are 8 devices in the mains, then they all share the maximum capacity of 1.2gbit, so if everything is under full load, only 150mbit arrive at each endpoint with equal bandwidth consumption.
Any additional purchases of further adapters with or without WLAN are possible at any time. I currently use 3 1200+ Wifi adapters distributed around the house. Performance between 180 and 250 Mbit/s distributed over 2 floors and approx. 10-15m away. No problems at all. I use a Netgear router.
Yes, devolo dLAN products of different speed classes are fully compatible with each other.
The only exceptions are old devices with 14 and 85 Mbps speeds. Unfortunately, these are not compatible with today's products.
For technical reasons, devices of the devolo Magic series are not compatible with dLAN devices.
In a network with mixed speed classes, each adapter connects to every other adapter at the highest possible speed (regardless of the other adapters in the network). For example, in a network consisting of one 500 Mbps adapter and two 1200 Mbps adapters, the 500 Mbps adapter connects at 500 Mbps to the 1200 Mbps adapters. At the same time, however, the 1200 MBit/s adapters connect to each other at the full 1200 MBit/s speed.

This is probably not officially supported. After all, Swisscom officially approved the use of the TV box via WLAN for the first time with the Internet Box 2 + WLAN Box, until then it was 'at your own risk'. So if this Devolo StarterKit can connect to the TV box via the WPS button, it will most likely work, but 'at your own risk'. If you want to be on the safe side, use the WLAN box from Swisscom, which also has LAN connections, but you won't clear up the cable mess with it ;-)
The following explanation can be found on the devolo.ch support page:
Are devolo adapters in different speed classes (200, 500, 600, 1200) compatible ?
Yes, devolo products in different speed classes are fully compatible with each other. In a mixed network, each adapter connects to every other adapter at the highest possible speed. Regardless of the other adapters in the network. For example, in a network consisting of one 200 Mbps adapter and two 500 Mbps adapters, the 200 Mbps adapter connects to the 500 Mbps adapters at 200 Mbps. At the same time, the 500 Mbit/s adapters connect to each other at the full 500 Mbit/s speed. The only exceptions are old devices with 14 and 85 Mbps speeds. Unfortunately, these are not compatible with today's products.
You can do both. If you set the same SSID, you do not have to configure the mobile devices separately, but this has the disadvantage that the mobile device always uses the "first found" WLAN, which is not always the best. Very few mobile devices do a good job of changing the base station themselves. So it often happens that the WLAN connection is weak because the device on the ground floor, for example, is connected to the router on the first floor. With separate SSIDs, you can at least select the base station.
Hi Christophe,...
I haven't tested it myself, but according to the Devolo website :
Are devolo adapters in different speed ranges (200, 500, 650, 1200) compatible with each other?
Yes, devolo products in different speed ranges are fully compatible with each other. In a mixed network, each adapter connects to all other adapters with the maximum possible speed. In a network consisting of, for example, a 200 Mbps adapter and two 500 Mbps adapters, the 200 Mbps adapter connects to the 500 Mbps adapters at 200 Mbps. At the same time, the 500 Mbps adapters exchange data with each other at 500 Mbps. The only exception are the older 14 and 85 Mbps adapters. These are not compatible with the current products.

so this should NOT be a problem....
