There are two very similar docks on offer Digiteg. 1. 102591 Compatible brand Unversal 2. 12378368 Compatible brand Apple Whether they are exactly the same I don't know. I gave mine to my son and it works fine with Mac so far.

The MacBook Pro is compatible with the dock. The dock comes with its own power supply and thus charges the MacBook at the same time. The connected device is therefore not discharged, but charged. The Thunderbolt cable included in the delivery is unfortunately very short; depending on the positioning, it is advisable to purchase a longer cable.

You don't always need a power supply unit, but if you have several devices connected to the dock... then you do, and if you want to supply the MBP or the Imac with power via the dock, well, then you need a power supply unit. What does alternating mean in this context?
