Question about OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock

Did I understand correctly that this dock has a proprietary power connection? So no USB3/TB3 alimentation? Weird, isn't it? If I want to use this thing alternately between iMac and MacBook Pro 13", do I need 2 power supplies? Where do I get the second PS (completely unnecessary if the USB3 standard would also apply to OWC)?

You don't always need a power supply unit, but if you have several devices connected to the dock... then you do, and if you want to supply the MBP or the Imac with power via the dock, well, then you need a power supply unit.
What does alternating mean in this context?
