This results in a reduced surface area that rubs against the inner housing lining. Additionally, grease is retained for a longer period. The main advantage is increased braking power with significantly less effort required at the brake lever. Polymer-coated brake cables (BC-9000) should only be used in combination with the BR-9000/6800/5800/RS500/R9100/R8000 series brakes. Using them with other combinations may result in insufficient grip of the brake cable, potentially causing the cable to come loose and losing control of the brake.
