The difference between the "Special Offer" and "Non Special Offer" versions of this eReader is that the "Special Offer" version displays adverts on the lock screen, which you have to wipe away when you switch it on. The "Non Special Offer" version is ad-free and therefore offers an undisturbed reading experience. Technically, both versions are otherwise identical, and normally the ad-free version costs a premium, although currently the price may be the same.
