Hmhm I'm not sure if I want the Ipad Air or the Ipad 7th Generation. I only really need it for reading everywhere, including on the road to check emails, play games, etc. Which do you think is the better choice?

Hi. The iPad Air has a slightly better processor, a minimally larger screen that is also scratch-resistant and a much better front camera. It is 1.4mm thinner and a few grams lighter. If that's worth the price difference, then go for the Air! :-)
