Cat 6A cables are designed for operating frequencies up to 500MHz. They are used for signal transmission at high data rates (10Gbps). Due to the high signal frequencies, special care must be taken during installation and assembly, especially at the connection points of the wires. The individual wire pairs on Cat 6A are twisted to different degrees of tightness, which reduces the susceptibility to interference even more than on Cat 5e. Areas of application for Cat 6A cables are voice and data transmission, as well as multimedia and ATM networks.
