Salut mitenand, I want to replace a DS409 and a DS411+ and have so far installed 4x Seagate IronWolf 3.5" hard drives (4TB, SATA III, CMR) from 2020 in the DS409. In the DS411+ I still have older WD RED SATA II 3.5" HD installed (Western Digital WD1002FBY5 from 2010). Can I reuse both? The Synology Compatibilty List for the DS423 is unfortunately useless in this regard, as they probably only want to sell their HAT33xx. Thanks for any advice! Best regards, Dan

Hy I also have 2 x WD Red from 2010 and 2 additional bodies installed and it works! Certainly not the optimal solution but it works and that's the important thing ;-)

Can the Synology NAS DS423 also be operated with the older WD 4TB hard discs WD40EFRX? I need to replace my defective Synology NAS 415+ and would like to continue using the hard discs that are still working properly.

Hello Yes I had a DS 411j failure and ordered these and at first I had some concerns about my HDD's being supported and I currently have 4 x WD40EFRX installed so WD 4 TB Red and that runs without any problems. I hope I have helped you further.
