I use the scanner for slides and negatives, colour and black and white. The software supplied is not much good. With Silverfast the results are very good, but it costs extra. A photo that has been scanned, processed and printed on photo paper looks much better than the prints you got 20 years ago.

Addendum: The negative strip must be turned over for scanning so that the sequence of the images is correct. In the preview with Silverfast, the view can be rotated so that the image is not scanned mirror-inverted. I don't know why, but when the negative strip is inserted like this, the scans are much sharper. Why is beyond me. But I did some tests and was amazed. The sticker on the machine also indicates how the negative strip should be inserted. I would advise against scanning whole rolls of film because the image has to be cropped because the transport of the strip is not 100% accurate to the millimetre and has to be readjusted. I find it a pity when image information is then missing. For me, this is also a great advantage because you get to see exactly the section of the image that you photographed at the time and not cut-off mountain peaks or feet :-)
