Hello, I assume that this is a 15 inch model. I have briefly looked up the specifications: https://support.apple.com/kb/SP690?locale=de_DE - I will base my answer on this. Via HDMI, you will only get 4K at 30Hz with this notebook. It works, but for it to work smoothly as usual, you need 60 herz. However, you have a Displayport 1.2 connection via the Thunderbolt 2 port. In theory, this can handle 4K with 60 hearts and, to my knowledge, also with this MacBook. You can now buy a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter and then use the USB C cable (included with the monitor) and you should get 4K with 60 hearts. Alternatively, you should be able to use a Mini Displayport / Thunderbolt 2 to Displayport cable to run the monitor at the same resolution.
Connection should be possible via USB-C. Excellent monitor, use it with the MacBook Pro.
Hi! I had the same problem. I bought a longer cable and it works without any problems. You just have to make sure that it's a 'good' USB-C cable and not just one that's meant for charging.
Unless I'm mistaken, any USB-C <-> USB-C version 3.2 cable will do (probably even version 3.1) : https://www.digitec.ch/fr/s1/producttype/cable-usb-292?filter=t_9576%3D588593%2Ct_9524%3D375569%2Ct_9525%3D375569
Yes, this is not a problem, the monitor can be used with Apple computers.
Yes. I have two of them in NY, one I bought in Switzerland at Galaxus and brought to the US, the other I bought there. Can't tell the difference.
Hello, I've had this Dell for a year now and I'm not disappointed. Great 4K screen. Comes with USB-C cable, and enough to connect it to the MacBook (Air 13" for me). The MacBook is also powered by the display through USB-C, which is great. The only downside is that there are no built-in speakers.
Hello, I have my MacBook Pro M1 Max connected via USB-C and my Mac Pro 2019 connected via DisplayPort (monitor) --> USB-C (Mac Pro). I can switch between the two Macs by switching my input from USB-C to DisplayPort. Funnily enough, I currently have two setups with Magic Keyboard and Trackpad, as my Mac Pro already had its own setup in the studio. So I don't have to constantly redo the Bluetooth pairing, which would be annoying (otherwise the quickest way to switch is with a short cable connection: then the device is automatically recognised. The cable can be removed afterwards). Monitor delivers 100W, which is more than sufficient for work/charging. The power is not as high as with the supplied charger, but there it is more about FAST charging. I mostly drive with MacBook Pro closed in a BookArc, but open in 'dual monitor mode' works fine too. I have my monitor configured as USB-C priority "High Speed", not "High Resolution", so that I get USB 3 speeds via the other USB ports on the monitor. Otherwise it will be USB 2. 2560x1440@60 Hz looks very good. It's the same resolution as the 27" iMac 5K, only scaled from UHD and not 5K (which is no problem at all). I had a Mac Pro 2019, an iMac 2020 and a MacBook Pro 16" 2019. Now I sold iMac and the "old" MacBook Pro and replaced it with the new M1 Max + monitor. A very successful change!
This is how it works on my 13" MI MacBook Pro. Picture and charge via the same cable.
The USB-C video input on this monitor works via DP Alternate Mode. The USB-C downstream port is only a USB port. Multi-stream transport (MST) supports multiple monitors, up to max. 2x 4k@60Hz. But the monitors must explicitly support this and have a DisplayPort-OUT connector. Nothing is mentioned about this in the specifications and in the manual of the monitor.
If I remember correctly, there is a configuration for power consumption in the monitor's settings. There you would have to specify that this 90W output is desired. For example, I can charge my Macbook Pro 16" 2019 + Iphone XS (via USB) simultaneously via the USB C interface.
Good day! I do not know the problem as such, as I do not operate the monitor with a soundbar. However, please bear in mind that when you select audio output to the monitor, the audio data is transferred via HDMI and the sound output built into the monitor is addressed (audio out socket). Although the sound bar is connected to the monitor via USB, it cannot be addressed by the monitor because the built-in USB hub connects the devices connected via USB to the lap. Consequently, you have to switch the sound output on your MacBook to the soundbar (via the selection menu on the speaker icon at the top right), even if you have connected it to the monitor. If you don't want to do this, you have to connect the Soundbar to the monitor via audio cable. I hope this helps.
Hello. No
Hi Marcus Mueller Yes, that is possible. I have been doing this for years because I don't have a TV. I have my TV box and Blu-ray player connected to my monitor. As you already mentioned, you have to connect extra speakers for the sound because this monitor does not have any speakers. Greetings John
The parts are probably on the boat in Egypt.... no, hopefully not, of course. If you want an answer to the first question, it is best to contact the customer service. There are certainly various alternatives - what do you value? Digitec has ~1900 screens. There should be something for you :) https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/producttype/monitor-31?pdo=68-16667%3A310359%7C68-16667%3A354794%7C68-16667%3A423513%7C68-16667%3A311487%7C68-16667%3A310356&rsl=68-16665%3A27%3A97.5&so=5&tagIds=77-624 Maybe a Philips? So you accepted Digitec's error with the last monitor and did not insist on correction. The question "with which plug does device XY come?" is unnecessary, see below. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Digitec is obliged to supply electrical appliances with a Swiss plug. If the appliance comes with a foreign plug, a suitable replacement cable should be supplied if the mains cable is pluggable or, alternatively, a suitable adapter if the mains cable is permanently connected. If the appliance is delivered without a suitable plug, complain to the customer service and insist on a cable or an adapter, free of charge. On the last question: "- Does a parallel connection of the monitor(s) work simultaneously on the Windows notebook and the iMac? I.e. are there enough connections to run it on both at the same time? I assume that a simple switch between the two sources will be possible or that a parallel picture-in-picture function will work. Am I right about that?" Note that the monitor only has one upstream USB-C port (for the USB hub). I also thought I could hook up multiple computers, but now I always have to reconnect. I find that a bit of a shame.
The displyport cable is 1.8 m long.
No, there is no built-in loudspeaker.
Hello, I've been looking for a bit and I see that this is the resolution I had selected. Default for the proposed screen: 1920 x 1080 Intermediate value chosen (middle value): 2560 x 1440 -> clear display 3840 x 2160 -> texts too small for my comfort Have a nice day
No, but it has a 3.5 mm jack connection to which speakers can be connected.
