Boot Drive for Enterprise Servers
The Kingston Data Center DC1000B is a high-performance M.2 (2280) NVMe PCIe SSD featuring the latest Gen 3.0 x 4 PCIe interface with 64-layer 3D TLC NAND. The DC1000B
The Kingston Data Center DC1000B is a high-performance M.2 (2280) NVMe PCIe SSD featuring the latest Gen 3.0 x 4 PCIe interface with 64-layer 3D TLC NAND. The DC1000B
provides data centers with a cost-effective boot drive solution with the confidence that they are purchasing an SSD designed specifically for use in servers. The DC1000B is ideal for use in high-volume rackmount servers as an internal boot drive(s), as well as for use in purpose-built systems where a high-performance M.2 SSD with integrated power failure protection (PLP) is required.
M.2 (2280) NVMe PCIe SSD Gen 3.0 x 4, Performance
NVMe for server boot workloads
Integrated Power Loss Protection (PLP)
Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) with AES-XTS 256bit
NVMe boot SSD for enterprise data centers
The use of M.2 NVMe SSDs in data centers is in steady evolution as they offer high boot efficiency for servers to keep valuable front-loading drive bays available for data storage. Whitebox and Tier 1 server OEMs are beginning to equip server motherboards with one or sometimes two M.2 sockets for booting. Although the M.2 form factor was originally designed as a client SSD form factor, its small physical size and high performance make it attractive for server use. SSDs are not all created the same way and using a client SSD in a server application can result in poor and inconsistent performance.
Applications
Boot drives are primarily used to boot an operating system, but in many use cases today the boot drive has a secondary purpose: logging application data and/or configuring as a high-speed local cache drive. Therefore, the DC1000B was designed with an additional lifetime (0.5 DWPD for 5 years) to handle the OS workload as well as the additional write load of caching and data logging. In addition to being designed for long-term reliability, the DC1000B provides consistent enterprise-level performance and low-latency features not typically found in client SSDs.
