Steam deck competitor: Ayaneo 2 is supposed to double performance

The Steam Deck gets competition. The Ayaneo 2 is a handheld whose graphics solution is supposed to have twice as much power as Valve's toy.
Aya Neo announces a new Windows gaming handheld with specs that surpass the Steam Deck with almost double the graphics power. However, it is questionable whether the Ayaneo 2 can also use the power. Or whether the cooling of the device will be strong enough.

The Ayaneo 2 is equipped with a Ryzen 7 6800U APU that draws 15 to 28 watts. The AMD processor with integrated graphics has 8 cores and 16 threads with a boost up to 4.7 GHz. The graphics unit is based on the RDNA-2 architecture like in the Steam Deck, but the Radeon 680M used has twice the number of compute units - twelve instead of six. The iGPU is thus able to clock 600 MHz higher than the Steam Deck and reaches up to 2.2 GHz. Thus, the Aya Neo handheld achieves almost double the theoretical performance. To 3.38 TFLOPS compared to 1.6 TFLOPS for the Steam Deck, which is supposed to correspond to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 TI according to Aya Neo's CEO.

The other specs promise a seven-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, which is in line with the Steam Deck. Nothing is known about the panel technology yet. Aya Neo relies on LPDDR-5-6400 for the working memory, while the Steam Deck has RAM clocked at 5500 MHz. In addition to the usual controls, such as two analog sticks, shoulder keys, action keys and so on, the device also has a fingerprint sensor. Touchpads like in the Steam Deck are missing, though.
It is not yet known how much the handheld will cost. The predecessor handheld Ayaneo 2021 Pro, with AMD Ryzen 7 4800U and 1 TB SSD, currently costs $1215. There is only a vague release date for the Ayaneo 2 - it is supposed to appear at the end of 2022.
