Parisians browse Galaxus the most

Galaxus went live in France a month ago. So, who are the customers who’ve been shopping at the new online store with the turtle logo? On which day of the week do the people in France prefer to make their purchases? And which region has been giving us the cold shoulder? Read on to find out.

Galaxus France opened its virtual doors on 11 January 2023. The first month is over – time for a review. We wanted to know who shopped at Galaxus in the opening month and what ended up in French shopping carts.

Here’s what we found in a nutshell: residents of Paris aged between 25 and 34 had a penchant for getting new smartphones from the online department store with Swiss roots. Find more details on this below.

Galaxus France has high testosterone levels

Men made up two thirds of Galaxus France’s customer base in the first month after the store premiered. But in our experience, women soon catch up. Back home on the Swiss market, Galaxus has become more and more popular with women over the years.

The customers with the loosest purse strings in France are aged between 25 and 34. By contrast, more mature shoppers tend to hold back when it comes to shopping on galaxus.fr.

Give us those smartphones, s’il vous plaît

When it comes to products, France-based customers have displayed clear preferences in the first 30 days: smartphones, processors and monitors were shipped off to France the most by Galaxus.

iPhones and the like have made up the biggest slice of the sales pie so far. 9 out of 10 best-selling products are from the IT + Multimedia sector – hobs from our Home + Kitchen department being the only exception.

Fun fact: the very first order from France was placed in Paris. The customer in question ordered a gaming mouse.

So far, the fewest orders were placed in Normandy, the Centre-Val de Loire and Corsica. The Galaxus parcels with the turtle logo only left mainland France sporadically during those first 30 days. Meanwhile, the city that’s placed the fewest orders with Galaxus so far is on the mainland. It’s Caen in Normandy.

Rendez-vous with Galaxus: Tuesday night at 9 p.m.

Online shoppers in France prefer to make their purchases on their smartphones. More than half of all orders were placed on the go.

The most popular day of the week for browsing the Galaxus store has proven to be Tuesday – at least this was the case for the first 30 days. On average, the most users visited Galaxus between 9 and 10 p.m. on Tuesdays. The least traffic was registered on Saturdays.

What do you think of Galaxus? Is there anything you like in particular or an aspect we could improve? Thanks for sharing your opinion in the comments field.
