Leak: PS5 Pro coming at the end of the year and will be massively faster than the PS5
According to the latest rumours, the Playstation 5 Pro delivers up to four times more ray tracing performance. Sony is also working on an upscaling technology similar to Nvidia's DLSS.
According to rumours, the PS5 Pro could be released at the end of the year. The timing of the interim console upgrade would be perfect. After all, the Playstation 5 is already four years old - and the PS4 Pro was released three years after the original PS4.
Faster ray tracing, upscaling and 8K
The GPU is expected to deliver 33.5 teraflops. This corresponds to 45 per cent more rendering performance compared to the PS5. Ray tracing will even be two to four times faster. The realistic calculation of rays of light is particularly performance-intensive and is only offered in combination with 30 FPS in most Playstation games. However, the Playstation theoretically supports up to 120 FPS.
The CPU remains the same, but the PS5 Pro has a turbo mode that is supposed to deliver ten per cent more performance. According to the leaks, the 16 gigabytes of GDDR6 system memory will be accelerated from 14 to 18 GT/s.
The devkits have been in circulation since September 2023, and the final version has even been available since 2024. This makes the possible release date at the end of the year even more plausible. Like the PS5 Slim, the console will not have a Blu-ray drive. However, one can be purchased if required.
"GTA VI" as a selling point for the PS5 Pro?
2025 will also see the release of "GTA VI", a game that is likely to be extremely hardware-hungry due to its huge game world and detailed graphics. The PS5 Pro would therefore be the perfect platform for Rockstar's gangster epic until the game is also released for PC.
Nothing is yet known about the price of the PS5 Pro.

As a child, I wasn't allowed to have any consoles. It was only with the arrival of the family's 486 PC that the magical world of gaming opened up to me. Today, I'm overcompensating accordingly. Only a lack of time and money prevents me from trying out every game there is and decorating my shelf with rare retro consoles.
