iPhone SE 3rd Gen: the home button is here to stay

Rumour has it the iPhone SE 3rd Gen will be launched this spring. And sources claim to know the specs of the device.

If you know the second-generation iPhone SE, then you know the third-generation iPhone SE. Citing «sources familiar with the matter», business newspaper Nikkei reports the third-gen iPhone SE – which will likely just be called «iPhone SE» – will remain largely unchanged.

The biggest upgrade appears to be the new A15 chip, which is also expected to be in the iPhone 13. With that, it’s clear we can expect the third-gen iPhone SE in 2022 at the earliest. Nikkei reports it will be released in the spring of 2022, to be more precise.

The design is nothing new: based on the iPhone 8, the third-gen iPhone SE will keep the home button and 4.7–inch LCD screen. In other words, precisely the elements that made the 2020 iPhone SE quite the hit.

In addition, Nikkei’s sources expect that no further 4G iPhones will be launched in the upcoming model year.
