AMD Radeon RX 7600: A small development step in the entry-level class

AMD's latest addition to the 7000 series of graphics cards is primarily aimed at entry-level users. The leap in performance compared to the previous generation is small.
The Radeon RX 7600 is only the third card in the RX 7000 series. After the two top models, the RX 7900 XT and 7900 XTX, AMD is launching a card for entry-level users, skipping the mid-range for the first time.
Here are the most important specs of the card at a glance:

Reviewer Wolfgang Andermahr sees it as a positive that the Radeon RX 7600 has a lower recommended retail price at release than its predecessor. But he doesn't have much more praise to offer.
In 1080p resolution, the card is just eight per cent faster than the RX 6650 XT. The recently released Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti is far ahead of the new AMD card and is no competition. The RX 7600 is suitable for gaming in 1080p resolution. However, depending on the game, the details have to be reduced because the 8 gigabytes of video memory are too small. The card is therefore unsuitable for even higher resolutions - except with major compromises in the settings.
According to Andermahr, the power consumption in games is 160 watts, which is 16 watts less than the RX 6650 XT. This is low for the eight per cent increase in performance and should be surpassed by the RTX 4060, which will be released in July. Overall, the new AMD card is not convincing.

In classic rasteriser games and 1080p and 1440p resolutions, the RX 7600 is on a par with the RTX 3060 12 GB or just beats it. In the best cases, it can even keep up with the RTX 4060 Ti. Compared to the predecessor cards, it is only a few per cent ahead.
At least the price is attractive at the current time. Other advantages are the dimensions of the reference card, which should fit into almost any PC, and the fact that it uses a single 8-pin PCIe connector.
The card will be available from next week. The pricing is still open.
