The odour has not changed in the 6 months or so that I have owned the bottle. However, this was never a big problem for me with the cover supplied.

Ours didn't smell for long.

You should heat up the bed bottle twice and let it cool down for two hours each time and then it won't stink any more. But everything is included in the instructions for use
