6. Hans im Glück El Grande (d)

El Grande is back! The area control classic and Game of the Year 1996 is getting a fresh look after nearly 30 years. As part of the Grandes, the high nobility, you want to expand your influence in Spain. So, you send your brave knights to conquer regions and gain more power. By cleverly deploying new action cards, you try to thwart your opponents' strategies. Influence the king in your favor and weave intrigues to stay one step ahead of the others. After a total of 9 rounds, one of you will achieve new dominion over medieval Spain.

7. Hans im Glück Hadara

Building and governing a state, caring for the population, and forming alliances with new colonies is a significant challenge. In Hadara, two to four players take on this challenge and establish their realm over three consecutive epochs.

To do this, they must recruit individuals and, with their help, feed their population, increase income, conquer colonies, carve busts, and collect victory points. However, such specialists demand good pay, so players should also keep an eye on their gold reserves. It may also be wise to send someone into exile at times. After three epochs have been completed, the final scoring takes place. The player with the most victory points in front of them at that point wins the game.

8. Hans im Glück Karvi, board game for 2-4 players, from 12 years (DE edition)

As a Jarl, you travel the northern seas to achieve immortal glory. Under the sail of your own carved ship (carvi), you lead a crew, trade with foreign cultures and plunder lands. Only if you succeed will your name go down in Norse legends ...

In Karvi, you want to go down in the history books as a legendary Jarl. Each turn, you use your dice to perform various actions. This allows you to trade or plunder, but also to increase your supplies and become stronger. Meanwhile, you can travel with your ship to remote locations to build towers and trading posts or gather more information about the strangers. You will record these most glorious of adventures on runestones. For all other adventures, you will have to settle for the smaller and more manageable victory points.

Strengthen the skills of your crew by upgrading your ship and hiring ever stronger warriors. It's up to you whether you establish new trade routes to secure rare trade goods or whether you go into battle against distant settlements and plunder their riches. But remember to stock up on enough supplies of beer and bread to outmanoeuvre the competing clans.

In this Eurogame smash hit, brute fighting power meets sophisticated trading skills - who will be the most glorious Jarl of them all in the end?

Caution. Not suitable for children under 36 months.
