The Short-Nose Tipper of the Road Workers
The road workers of the 1960s knew they could rely on it in any weather. This Mercedes-Benz LAK 710 flatbed tipper reflects the former reality in the construction yards of cities and road construction offices in 1:87 scale. The authorities desired maximum flexibility from their service vehicles. Based on a nimble truck, the flatbed needed to be tiltable and easy to load everywhere. WIKING has miniaturized the traditional short-nose model from Mercedes-Benz with numerous details and additionally equipped it with the appealing embellishments that characterized the Mercedes-Benz short-nose trucks of that era. Furthermore, the foldable tipper makes the short-nose a true classic on construction sites. This is how the compact and equally agile tipper was known in municipal construction yards and road maintenance depots. Naturally, the front headlights are made of transparent material. At Mercedes-Benz in Mannheim, the 7.5-ton and 14-ton models for distribution and construction site use were rolling off the assembly line at that time.
Chassis with cardan section, tank cover in pastel orange, as well as adapter frame and hydraulic cylinder for the tipper. Cabin, radiator grille, and step plates, as well as the rear flap, are also in pastel orange. Wheels are red, and the interior features a black steering wheel. The flatbed is silver. Mirrors and sight rods are included in black. Side door handles are silver. The radiator grille area is black, with a silver frame and central decorative strip, along with the Mercedes-Benz star. Headlights are made of transparent material. Front features red and white warning stripes. Rear lights are red.
