Product details

Man-sized limousine with the flair of the post-war years. There is no more chrome on a classic that even WIKING founder Fritz Peltzer appreciated. The rich, dark green body embodies the understated elegance of the early fifties. Additionally, the typical chrome exterior makes the Rüsselsheim model in 1:87 scale appear so refined. Most WIKING enthusiasts will remember the year 1977 when the Opel Kapitän '51 made a significant impact in the lineup. As a "veteran" novelty, the traditional model makers introduced the Opel limousine, creating a landmark vehicle two years after the launch of the declared classic offensive. WIKING founder Fritz Peltzer deliberately chose the 1951 design of the Opel Kapitän. The original model appeared more majestic, with enhanced chrome embellishments. Notably, the rear wheels were now partially covered, and the 58-horsepower flagship model from Rüsselsheim finally featured a single rear window. From March 1951 to July 1953, a total of 48,587 units of the man-sized original were built. The body is dark green with a clear coat finish, while the chassis and bumpers are aluminum silver. The interior is light gray. The decorative strips on the grille and sides are printed with a negatively appearing Kapitän inscription. Additionally, the windshield has a silver frame, and the fenders are also printed with embellishments. Whitewall tires with silver hubcaps complete the look.
