These new petrol engines quickly became very popular, as they were considered powerful and reliable right from the start. Petrol engines have lower fuel consumption than glow ignition engines and the fuel is also considerably cheaper. Electronic ignition enables the engines to be started without a glow device, which significantly improves ease of use compared to earlier engines.
