With the PIKO BR 83.10 from the DR, there is now an operationally suitable mass-produced model of this extraordinary locomotive type. Reflecting the uniqueness of the prototype, the finely detailed PIKO model also presents itself as an outstanding locomotive. The distinctive two-domed locomotive impresses with its excellent realization of the prototype proportions and features a multitude of added parts, including many fine pipes, wind deflectors, a bell, a whistle, covers for the water boxes, a generator, platforms to the buffer beam, ladders, handrails, heating lines, and sand pipes. The fine spoked wheels, the intricate control system, and the lovingly detailed cab interior make the locomotive an eye-catcher on the layout. Technically, the PIKO BR 83.10 is up to date, featuring cab lighting, chassis lighting, LED front signals, and the option to equip the locomotive with a smoke unit. The powerful motor, combined with two installed traction tires, provides sufficient pulling power for all prototype-compliant train formations. Installing a digital decoder and retrofitting with sound is easily possible. Brake hoses, couplings, and long protective tubes are included with the model.
