From the mid-1950s, two series of passenger cars were created by converting country railway compartment cars at the Deutsche Bundesbahn, referred to as conversion cars. Unlike the original models, PIKO's three-axle conversion cars were not based on existing parts. These cars are complete new designs. The scale models replicate the original down to the smallest detail. Individually applied grab bars are just as much a part of the contemporary design as the flush-fitting, crystal-clear windows and detailed interior. The careful design continues on the car floor, which impresses with features such as exposed wiring and a delicate brake rigging. Like the originals, the N conversion cars are available in the market as closely coupled pairs and have a prototypical distance between the cars. Together with the PIKO locomotive model of the E 32 series, realistic train formations can be created that will be a true highlight on any layout.
