With the newly designed model of the railbus VT 2.09 from the Deutsche Reichsbahn, PIKO responds to a frequently expressed desire among many model railroaders for a contemporary, detailed, and operationally suitable version of the well-known "pig taxi." Following the development of the innovative control logic for the DB railbus, for which PIKO received the Golden Track award in 2017, it is only natural to now implement the widely used counterpart from East Germany with a focus on detail and corresponding logic. The railcar is powered by a strong miniature motor, equipped with flywheels for excellent running characteristics, and features a factory-installed buffer capacitor for optimal driving performance without sound interruptions. The drive is applied to both axles of the railcar. The driving and control cars can be coupled together using a current-conducting short coupling mechanism. The lighting functions of both vehicles can be switched separately, allowing for an unobstructed view through the passenger compartments. The rail vehicle automatically detects whether a trailer car is attached and then turns off the lighting between the vehicles. The PIKO "pig taxi" comes factory-equipped with a suitable PluX22 sound decoder.
