To get through the winter, Eddie the Squirrel has been busy and took a long journey in the autumn to hide as many hazelnuts as possible in the forest. Now he wants to return home to his nest. However, for the arduous journey back, he needs to eat some hazelnuts from his winter supply.

In the cooperative game "Mission Hazelnut," the players' task is to guide Eddie the Squirrel back to his nest while using as few of his nut supplies as possible. In each round, they move Eddie using hazelnut cards that indicate different directions through the forest. To do this, each player places one hazelnut card face down and without discussing it with the others on the action board. At the end of the round, all cards are resolved from left to right. If the players have assessed each other well, Eddie will make it home before he runs out of hazelnuts.
