The Hanseatic League, in Latin: Hansa Teutonica, refers to a medieval association of Low German merchants. Cities that joined the merchants' and cities' alliance of the Hanse are known as Hanseatic cities. Players aim to enhance their reputation as merchants during the time of the Hanse. There are various opportunities to achieve this: establishing branches in as many cities as possible or even building a connected network can be just as promising as improving one's merchant attributes. During their turn, players perform actions. They can deploy their merchants on the game board, move them, or even displace opposing merchants. If they manage to occupy all connection points between two cities, they can establish a trade route and found a branch. In some cities, a player may choose to develop one of their attributes instead of occupying a branch. This allows them to act more effectively in the course of the game. In the end, the player with the most prestige points wins.
