Codename is a game of deduction for 2-8 players, divided into two teams, red and blue. The goal is for the spymaster to identify all the spies of their color. The game features a grid of 25 words, with the two spymasters having a scheme that indicates the arrangement of the spies, innocents, and the assassin. Players take turns saying a single word and a number that they believe represents how many cards correspond to the word indicated, where their own spies are present. For example, if "Pass" and "Alps" are present and are of their color, a player might say "Mountain 2." The challenge lies in not confusing the other words present, as making a mistake could reveal enemy spies, aiding the opposing team, or worse, the assassin, which results in immediate defeat for the team.
