Doesn't the part need an annual service like Husqvarna otherwise the warranty will be void?

Not from the manufacturer. The app will remind you to hose it down from time to time or change the cutting blades on the lawnmower. All you have to do is confirm in the app that you've done it. There's no check to see if you've actually done the maintenance task, and it's up to you if it's really necessary.
