Spax

The SPAX typical drive T-STAR plus is a so-called internal hexagon. This shape increases the contact area of our T-STAR plus, allowing the T-STAR plus bits to fit perfectly into the screw head. The optimal power transfer from the screwdriver to the screw through T-STAR plus enables fast work, significantly more efficient than with any other drives.

The countersunk head (or flat countersunk head) carves a recess into the wood with its polygonal underside ("pockets") and can therefore be sunk without additional countersinking of the screw hole. The countersunk head sits flush with the surface.

The screws with partial thread are excellent for fastening thin components such as wood-based panels, boards, or floorboards to thicker components like beams or posts. The short thread screws into the thick component, while the unthreaded shank remains in the attachment component. This creates maximum clamping pressure between the two. The unthreaded part should be at least as thick as the attachment component.

The CUT tip of our SPAX screws allows for extremely fast and effective driving of our wood screws without pre-drilling. The arrow-shaped CUT tip, in combination with the shaft profile, reduces splitting and tearing of the wood. Furthermore, the CUT tip enables very precise and slip-resistant positioning of the screw tip even on smooth surfaces.

With WIROX, SPAX has developed a coating that far surpasses galvanization in terms of corrosion protection. WIROX does not use chromium (VI), and the screws remain just as durable and environmentally friendly even after years in non-directly weather-exposed outdoor areas. WIROX screws are the first choice for all open structures without direct weather exposure, such as carports or pergolas. For direct weather exposure, such as on terraces, we recommend our screws in the stainless steel variant.
