TomTom devices with SIM only have GSM/2G ... Live Traffic will therefore no longer work if the provider with whom TomTom has the contract (in CH possibly Swisscom) no longer works if the provider switches off GSM/2G ... as it looks in CH all at the end of 2020 - why pure GSM/2G devices (even low cost phones) are still being sold, I really don't understand - why TomTom doesn't equip their navis with at least 3G ... no idea ... might still come by the end of 2020 ... - alternative are the sat navs with Bluetooth (e.g. the current Rider is only available this way), where the smartphone then takes over the data traffic ... of course not optimal for Swiss with data roaming abroad ... nobody really wants that - in any case, it makes no sense to buy the current TomTom SIM Navis at the moment ... unless you don't care about Live Traffic, which is one of the best things about TomTom ...
Yes, that is correct. The traffic display is very well-intentioned, but in most cases it is displayed far too late ... when you are already in a traffic jam and can't get out - personally, it's no longer of much use to me - at most it can still be used for the calculated arrival time. I would be interested to know who has similar experience with this device.
Sorry, I have never tried this before! To be honest, I put the navigation system on silent so that I wouldn't hear the announcements or the repetitions ;-)
The maps can be installed but the live services like traffic info will not be available. As the sim card can only be used in certain EU countries/CH. Unless TomTom has finally made an upgrade so that you can fetch the internet data via your own mobile phone (Bluetooth / wifi hotspot).
A memory card is not included. For me, however, the 16 GB internal memory is sufficient for the USA and DACH maps. This is enough for me for now. Removing and adding maps is relatively easy via WLAN.

I have received an answer from Tomtom: The live traffic of these devices does NOT work in the USA via the integrated sim card. This is because the sim card included with devices purchased in Europe is not compatible with the USA. :(
I refer to this link: http://de.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/19699/~/infos-to-life-tomtom-traffic Without GSM no Lifetraffic, so the same will apply as above, but otherwise check again with TOMTOM directly. Attention EOL is not equal to actual lifetime of the device. So if TOMTOM does not release any patches for the device at some point, "Lifetime" is finished.
Yes *.ov2 files can be imported. The whole thing works via the online tool MyDrive for which an account with TomTom is required. The maximum size of a file is 2MB. A detailed description can be found in the FAQs on the TomTom homepage.
No, there are no charges. The sim card is included in the purchase price, including the service in the European countries that are listed (practically everything around here). For this reason, the navigation device is also a good deal more expensive than the otherwise identical 6100 World.
Yes, this is possible. For the use of the map of Australia, as well as all other maps outside Europe (which are pre-installed), these must be downloaded separately, which are free of charge. I recommend an additional microSD card with 16 or 32GB for this.
No. For this purpose TomTom has a Camper model available TomTom Go Camper (6")
It works with GPRS standard. In my opinion, it will continue to work. Of course, GPRS is very slow. Only traffic updates are delivered via it. Everything else like software and map updates have to be done via Wi-Fi.
The device must be registered (updates) and the app mydrive is necessary. See manual page 30 (link available in the offer).
