Polymer-coated brake cables (BC-9000) should only be used in combination with the brakes from the BR-9000/6800/5800/RS500/R9100/R8000 series. Using them with other combinations may result in insufficient clamping of the brake cable. As a consequence, the brake cable may come loose, leading to a loss of control over the brake, which can cause serious injuries.
