I have never tried this because I don't see the point. Everything is already synchronised with the Garmin app. I think it should work. But what do you want to see from it?

already have maps installed? we can search for a route from A to B and it gives us a route?

Maps already installed. You can go from your current position to a pre-saved point but you can't calculate the route from A to B without using Garmin Connect with the 520+. The 820 does this but apparently it has a touch screen that is not up to scratch. I prepare my routes on connect, which allows me to fine tune the route, then send them to the edge. Very happy with the product.
