I have never tested it on a foot carpet. However, it first moves forward a bit to detect obstacles. If it doesn't come across any, it moves back, sprays the water (not in a straight line, by the way, but slightly angled towards the ground) and drives over it with the slightly vibrating plate. Then the same again from the front. I think he should notice the carpet and not get it wet. I also have the cat baskets on the floor and none of them have got wet yet.
