There is an attachment for the carpet that you have to order separately. I've ordered it but haven't tried it out yet. Cleaning will remain superficial as it is a steam appliance and not a wet vacuum cleaner. The steam and heat probably penetrate deep down (bacteria), so stains will probably not disappear. Perhaps it also depends on the carpet (e.g. high-pile carpet or e.g. dirt trap). Everything works perfectly on the ceramic tiles and the parquet also looks neat.
