Product details

Liquid thermometer made based on the idea of Galileo Galilei (1564-1642). Galileo discovered that liquids change their density depending on temperature. As the temperature rises, the density of the liquid in the thermometer decreases. The comparatively heavier balls lose buoyancy and sink. Conversely, when the room temperature decreases, the lighter balls gain buoyancy and gradually rise. The weight difference of the 6 glass balls is precisely calibrated (to one hundredth of a gram) so that the lowest of the floating balls indicates the current temperature in the range of 18°C to 28°C.
