Jeremias has always believed that dragons are vile, fire-breathing monsters that one should be wary of. Nevertheless, he agrees to the daring challenge of climbing the smoldering nest of a dangerous devil's grind and stealing a gold coin as proof. All of this is just because he wants to be accepted into the Clan of the Murrays and finally belong somewhere. But then everything goes horribly wrong – and Jeremias suddenly finds himself face to face with a true dragon. His knees are shaking, but could it be that this dragon has no intention of turning him into a pile of ash?.
