What if your love is forbidden?

Seventeen-year-old Lily grows up in the Chinese community of San Francisco in the mid-1950s. When she meets Kathleen during a school project, she realizes that she is different - and feels differently - than the other girls. The two become friends and secretly visit a forbidden lesbian bar, the Telegraph Club, at night. Here, Lily immerses herself in a world that fascinates her immensely. She comes to understand that she has deeper feelings for Kath. However, America in 1954 is not a safe place for two girls who fall in love, especially not in Chinatown. When their nighttime visits to the Telegraph Club are discovered, it has consequences for Lily's family. Nevertheless, she cannot and will not give up her love for Kath.
