The enigmatic crocodile skinks have an almost mystical reputation. Only recently known to the public, they captivate every reptile enthusiast with their appearance. For a long time, little was known about the biology of these animals, and they are considered extremely endangered. Fortunately, breeding in terrariums has become more regular, and dedicated herpetologists and terrarium keepers are gradually shedding light on the mysteries of these "mini-crocodiles." Michael Zollweg and Heiko Kühne have been caring for and breeding crocodile skinks for many years. They are among the few Europeans who have photographed these animals in the wild. The authors are also active in species conservation and support a protection project for Shinisaurus – by the way, with this book, the proceeds of which they are donating entirely to the project.
