The double-deck Airbus A380 is the largest passenger aircraft produced in series in the world. Developed as a competitor to the previously market-leading Boeing 747, the four-engine giant took to the skies for its maiden flight in 2005, impressing passengers and airlines with its performance. However, in the rapidly changing market, the A380 proved to be far too large and too expensive to operate. The COVID-19 crisis further exacerbated the situation. In 2021, Airbus therefore ceased production. The same goes for the Jumbo Jet. Thus, the era of the legendary four-engine aircraft in passenger service is clearly coming to an end. A highly relevant farewell.
