Would you recommend the device for use as a hotspot for a desktop PC? Is it possible to expand the memory? I can find different specifications. Can I have a look at the device in your shop in Basel?

There is nothing against using this device as a hotspot for a desktop PC. The question is rather, why not simply use a mobile 4G router :-) Attention here: Not every network provider allows the sharing of the internet connection, check the terms and conditions!

You can expand the memory up to a maximum of 1 TB.
