Lindy Network cable

With this cable I would like to connect my Macbook Air to my modem in a very unspectacular way in my currently enforced home office. The Macbook Air is mid-2013, so it has two USB 3.0 ports and one Thunderbolt port. The modem is ancient, a ZYXEL A280. So is it the right cable (the length is right because of the distance modem - study)? And should I use it with the Apple adapter Thunderbolt to Ethernet or with the Apple adapter USB2.0 to Ethernet - or does it matter? Many thanks!
The Thunderbolt adapter would of course be better because of the speed. However, the modem could lead to a bottleneck because, as already mentioned, it is older. But it should work 95% of the time.
