You can create a free email address from Germany (Gmx etc.). With this, you can create a new "German" account at Google Play or Appstore. Then you can download the app and use the Echo normally. Some things like asking for the weather or temperature outside only work with German cities. However, you can connect the Echo with Netatmo. Then it also works perfectly. We have been using Alexa for a long time and are happy with it.

I have installed the Alexa app version 2.2.2043.0 as APK and everything I have tried so far actually works:

- Spotify (haven't found anything yet that doesn't work)
- Alarm clock ( ...recently with playlist from Spotify or stations from TuneIn)
- Weather (on the local Swiss address and all places you ask.... with picture and icons on the spot)
- News: Radio SRF, NZZ
