Question about Marantz M-CR612 Melody X

My M-CR612 reports a system error when I switch to CD. The error is described in the manual but without a solution. This is what the manual says: "System error" is displayed. "System error" is displayed when an error occurs that is not caused by the disc, format, etc. Set to factory settings, firmware reinstalled, none of this helps. Marantz support remains silent. Warranty unfortunately expired. Does anyone have any ideas or is this a case for disposal?

Most probably the CD-ROM is broken. I had the same problem with my previous receiver where the CD-ROM had gone.
The manufacturers no longer pay much attention to quality drives in their devices. It's a rather old one. Today with USB and Internet...
There are hi-fi freaks who can mend old and new electronic devices.

You can forget about MARANTZ support. I also had system errors and got no help, even during the warranty period.
A reset with new firmware was successful. Forget your CD's, do it with USB.

I had a problem as well with my CD player in the same model amplifier, but I got so fed up trying to fix this so I just bought another same amplifier . I’ve kept the old one as a back up. Recently, another problem developed when I changed TV and tried to use the tv audio optical cable plugged in to the amplifier (It worked with the old TV) . It seems that the amplifier does not accept the signal from the new TV, but I’m working on this with some of the great people at Digitech Geneva (It seems to be a protocol problem)
