Addendum: LG has actually done it and now you have to control the device either locally or via a browser and a (Chinese) user account at LG. This is not only problematic in terms of data security and privacy, but also no longer reasonable to use. There are certainly better alternatives and I will avoid LG in the future after the experience, which in my opinion is quite a customer screw-up.

The procedure is stated by the manufacturer, namely to disconnect the NAS from the network and use it only locally. We regret this. If you do not like this procedure, we invite you to write to us by e-mail on this subject :)
