With a full-frame camera in any case. With an APS-C sensor, the image area is more like 26mm. Still works well, just a little less sky.

This lens is perfect for northern lights. Set the focus manually to infinity and experiment with exposure time/ISO. I would start with ISO 1600 and an exposure time of 10 seconds.
