Is it true that the phone can only be used with European SIM cards and therefore does not work with Indian or Egyptian SIM cards, for example? I wanted to take it to these countries as a gift.
The smartphone must first be activated with a European SIM card and used for approx. 5-10 minutes with a call to deactivate the region lock. After that, the smartphone can be used worldwide without restrictions with other SIM cards (provided the corresponding network frequencies are supported).
Hello M.dillier71,
Samsung's devices are equipped with a so-called region lock. This lock is intended to prevent the Asian market, for example, from being flooded with European devices, or vice versa. However, the lock can be removed very easily. You simply have to insert a European SIM card and make a call with it for about 5 minutes. After that, the block is removed and the phone can be operated with other SIM cards (https://www.google.ch/amp...).
