Is it normal for the mouse wheel to make grinding noises? As if the mouse wheel is not running freely and is touching something. I've never had this with a Logitech mouse before.

we have 5 mice in the office. they all "scrub", which means that the scrolling is less random and never stops. it scrolls in slices of several fixed lines at each scrub (bearing). i like this feature.

Well, the mouse wheel has detents, it 'rubs', but that's a feature, not a bug.
If you mean the ball, it runs in (I already have the 3rd MX Ergo), probably (yuck) with the grease of the fingers. Accordingly, you also have to press the ball out of the socket once a week and remove the dirt from the cavity.
