I'm afraid my remote control is defective. Is there a perceptible light at the "transmitter" when a button is pressed?

Helpful answer
The remote control has an infrared transmitter at the front. Your eye does not see this, but a camera sensor, e.g. on a mobile, does. So look at it with your mobile phone camera and press the volume button on the remote control, for example, and you should see the infrared light flashing.
