I have an Ultrasharp 25 inch and would now buy this Ultrasharp 27 inch. Can both run at the same resolution through a ThinkPad notebook?

If the resolution of your screen is 2560-x-1440, then the resolution is the same. Of course, with a bigger screen, the pixels are a bit bigger. However, I am totally satisfied with the resolution of my screen.
