Question about Netgear AirCard 790

I don't know what kind of sim cards fit, for example can I use a normal sim from Swisscom (prepaid) and then buy data packs in the cockpit or do I need a roaming subscription?

I use Netgear Air Card 790 as my mobile hotspot.
This works reliably and I was perfectly supported when I had difficulties setting the APN correctly for the provider Orange in France.

A Swisscom SIM card abroad is complete nonsense because it is far too expensive.

The point of the mobile hotspot is, of course, to buy a prepaid SIM card in the country visited and load a data package. This is very cheap in Portugal and Italy, relatively expensive in Spain and France.
(I need 5 to 10 GB in 4 weeks in each case). But everything is still orders of magnitude cheaper than using Swisscom and roaming.
So: As soon as you cross a border, the first thing to do is buy a SIM card and data package.

You can insert any SIM card you like! If you go abroad, it's best to get a SIM card for the internet there, it's usually cheaper!
